HumanDistrict is a speculative exhibition stand, designed by humans Morris Bouwman and Arjen Witteveen, that imagines what MaterialDistrict might look like if materials themselves organised the event. The stand invites exploration of how recognising the agency of materials and listening to their ‘voices’ might transform our relationships with them. By creating a ‘HumanDistrict’, the project creates space for dialogue on material representation and the limitations of conventional sustainability concepts. It asks how we might move beyond viewing materials and nature as inert and utilitarian.
