About

Morris Bouwman is a design researcher based in The Hague. By studying interspecies relations and modern material cultures, he seeks to reflect on the interplay of ecology, culture, and industry. Central to his work is the inquiry into how the perception and conception of ‘nature’ shape the relationship between humans and their environments.

His aim is to utilise design to foster response-ability regarding complex and paralysing topics, where modern individuals and institutions are left in a state of denial about their complicity in climate breakdown. As a designer, he strives to collaborate across the imposed boundaries of disciplines and species, sharing a multitude of voices, ranging from philosophers to farmers, and from scientists to nonhumans.
